BRUTAL BATTLES STORMS INTO PRODUCTION FROM REFUGE 31 FILMS AND FARPOINT DISTRIBUTION

Farpoint Distribution announced today the acquisition and start of production on a new documentary television series from Refuge 31 Films, BRUTAL BATTLES. The 13-episode series will be broadcast in Canada on Super Channel and Super Channel+ in 2027.

Brutal Battles exposes the strategy, politics, technology and brutality behind the clashes that reshaped warfare and history told using cinematic animation along with fresh insights from a new generation of scholars from around the world.

“The show will be bringing historical warfare to life in ways that hasn’t been seen before,” said Refuge 31 co-owner/director, Andrew Wall. “We will be going inside of these clashes and be able to examine what happened from every angle and bring a new perspective to history.”

Each episode highlights one historical battle and examines the drama on the battlefield and the far-reaching consequences that battle had on civilization. These are the events that shaped and shattered the course of history.

“Using a mixture of both A.I. and traditional animation allows us to tell stories that just aren’t feasible on projects of this scope in any other way,” said CEO of Farpoint Distribution, Kyle Bornais. “We will be able to show battles with viewpoints rarely seen in any series.”

Battles that will be examined include Salamis (480 BCE), Carthage (146 BCE), Tenochtitlan (1521), Borodino (1812), Galicia-Volhynia (1916), Stalingrad (1042-43), Okinawa (1945) and more.
