Kyle Bornais is a Canadian Screen Awards-nominated producer that executive produces, and produces, film and television for the Canadian and International marketplace. He co-founded Farpoint Films and has worked to develop and launch new productions and partnerships for the company ever since. Highlights of past projects include feature films Menorca, Teen Lust, Mother's Day and Wild Cherry; television series Escape Or Die!, The Illegal Eater (2014 Rockie Award for Best Lifestyle Series), The Medicine Line (Best Documentary Series at the 2014 Yorkton Film Festival), House Party; documentaries Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap: Every Song Tells A Story, Lost Heroes, The Sheepdogs Have At It, and There's Something Out There - CTV's first HD documentary that had a million viewers for its premier broadcast.
Director & Co-Founder
John Barnard is an award-winning director that has worked in most genres of film and television. Menorca is John’s first dramatic feature film. His music documentaries featuring Randy Bachman, The Sheepdogs and many others have screened on TV and cinemas internationally. His work in lifestyle television can be seen around the world in series The Illegal Eater, Escape or Die!, Buy It-Fix It-Sell It!, and The Medicine Line, some of which he even had a hand in creating.
Senior Writer & Partner
Chris Charney is a Canadian Screen Award-nominated television and film writer. He wrote the feature film, Wild Cherry, which is currently available on iTunes. Chris was nominated for Best Writing in a Lifestyle or Reality/Competition Program or Series at the 2015 Canadian Screen Awards for The Illegal Eater. His credits include Escape Or Die!, The Illegal Eater (also directed five episodes), The Medicine Line (also directed 4 episodes), Lost Bones: In Search Of Sitting Bull's Grave, Musical Ghosts (wrote and directed).
SCOTT R. LEARY
Scott R. Leary's career started by covering student riots and earthquakes in Seoul, South Korea. Since then, Scott has produced for the likes of CTV, CityTV, Slice, Showcase, CBC and APTN. Scott is an independent producer contracting his services to Farpoint Films. His credits as an award-winning producer/executive producer include feature films Menorca and Teen Lust; TV shows Escape or Die!, The Illegal Eater (also directed five episodes), The Medicine Line (also directed two episodes), Til Debt Do U$ Part, and Willy's Garage; documentaries Randy Bachman's Vinyl Tap: Every Song Tells A Story, The Sheepdogs Have At It, and Drop The Nickel (also wrote and directed).
Ross has more than 24 years of extensive experience providing management accounting to over 100 small and medium sized film and television production projects. His career began as an accounting clerk on the Gemini award winning The Diviners and currently provides financial management and advice on all aspects of the business for Farpoint Films and its subsidiaries, including development, production accounting, post production accounting, final reporting, audit preparation, tax credit filing, royalties and distribution. Ross is an avid and successful fisherman, devoted Toronto Maple Leaf fan and considers himself a semi-professional Yahtzee player.
As a drummer (and few would define him so narrowly) he can be found on a minimum of 25 albums, (discs, tapes, etc.). Recordings with everyone from local upcoming artists to mega artists such as Crash Test Dummies (11 million records sold worldwide), which he has been a member of since 1991. You’ll also find him in the credits as producer, engineer or credited playing some other instrument. Three Grammy nominations, a Juno and 11 Juno nominations, appearances on The Late Show With David Letterman (3), Late Night With Conan O'Brien (3), Arsenio Hall, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, and a most proud moment, Saturday Night Live. Head Of Post-Production
Markus Henkel came to Farpoint Films via Germany and quickly established himself as the company's go-to-man. He studied film at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund and works as editor, graphics, colourist, shooter and anything/everything else. He was the cinematographer for Farpoint's feature film, Menorca, as well as co-editing it. He is also an award-winning filmmaker whose projects include: The Champ, Under The Neon Lights, and Offline.
Tony Wosk has been working in Canada's film and television industry for more than fifteen years. Tony left CBC Television in 2010 after serving as Executive in Charge of Production, TV Comedy in order to concentrate on production. Prior to moving into television he spent almost a decade in feature film financing, production and distribution. Tony was Director of Acquisitions & Development for Canadian distributor Christal Films, a position he accepted after spending six years with Telefilm Canada as a Senior Analyst responsible for development, production and distribution. His credits include producing the Samuel L. Jackson starrer The Samaritan, the documentary Lost Heroes, The Illegal Eater (nominated for a CSA and winner of the Banff Rockie Award) and Executive Producing the feature films Berkshire County and Room For Rent.
Tony holds a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from York University's Schulich School of Business and a BA from the University of Western Ontario. He is based in Toronto.
Writer & Production Manager
Trevor wrote 6 episodes of Farpoint's latest series, Kid Diners, and an episode of Escape Or Die! He also writes and directs the Electronic Press Kits for the feature films Farpoint produces including Room For Rent and Sorry For Your Loss. He is the Production Manager/Coordinator on Farpoint productions and manages the company's social media pages. Previously he worked as a journalist and a communications specialist and worked with Farpoint previously as a Writer's Assistant and shot EPK footage for the feature film, Wild Cherry.
