Menorca To Have World Premiere At 2016 Whistler Film Festival
Farpoint Films is proud to announce their feature film, MENORCA, will have its world premiere at the 2016 Whistler Film Festival. The festival runs in Whistler, British Columbia from November 30 to December 4.
Menorca is the dramatic feature film debut of Farpoint co-founder John Barnard. The film centres on a hedonistic soccer mom as she embarks on a strange journey of self-discovery and seeks to reconnect with her estranged son by returning his pet rock back to the island of Menorca, Spain.
The film, playing in the Boros Competition for Best Canadian Feature at WFF, will be screened December 3 and 4. Menorca was filmed in Winnipeg and throughout Manitoba with local cast and crew and in Menorca, Spain.
"They put on an amazing festival at Whistler. Plus the snowcapped majesty of the place is the perfect counterpoint to a film that is split in locations between a sweltering prairie summer and beach in the Mediterranean," said Barnard, whose documentary, The Sheepdogs Have At It, closed the 2012 WFF.
Menorca was written and directed by John Barnard, stars Tammy Gillis (Unleashing Mr. Darcy), was produced by John Barnard and Kyle Bornais, and executive produced by Chris R. Charney and Scott R. Leary.
The cast of Menorca includes Sheila E. Campbell (The Editor), Dorothy Carroll (Winnipeg Burlesque), Aaron Merke (Advanced Wizards & Warriors), Logan Creran (The Midnight Man), Krystle Snow (Intersection), Jason Wishnowski (Faces In The Crowd), Talia Pura (The Saddest Music In The World), and Michael O'Sullivan (Careful).
Menorca is distributed in Canada by IndieCan Entertainment.
